Indonesian President calls for SMS support for Komodo

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of Indonesia

The president of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, has asked all Indonesians to support Komodo Island, one of the 28 Official Finalists in the New7Wonders of Nature.

The president made the appeal when he was officially inaugurating the new Lombok International Airport. According to The Jakarta Post, he asked the dignitaries present, and Indonesians in general, to vote for Komodo Island via SMS. “Let’s all type KOMODO and send it to 9818,” president Yudhoyono said during the event, which was also attended by former vice president Jusuf Kalla, who has been tasked with generating support for Komodo in the New7Wonders of Nature campaign.

Thank's Mr. President, this is a good effort from you. He still promote Komodo Island on that inauguration event. And his effort was not in vain, because Komodo Island finally was chosen as one of New 7 Wonders on 11 november ago. The formal announcement of New 7 Wonders will be held on this january.
